Jan’s Review

My son and i have are both big fans of James Rileys Story Thieves and Half Upon a Time series. Mr. Riley has a way of grabbing his young readers attention and even hooking a few adults in for the ride. This one is quite different from the two previous series but it shows how unique this author talents are. We have a attack on a famous landmark and our main characters dad is sucked into a pit from hell so to speak by a strange monster. We have no idea if he lives or if he died Fort is pretty sure his is dead. Which sets our character into a major spin of needing to get revenge.

After the terrible attacks Fort is invited to a special school to learn magic and the two types of magic are healing and destruction. Now Fort is determined to go to this school so he can learn destruction magic and hopefully serve up a nice plate of revenge at the same time. Well that not how it all goes down instead he learning healing magic, which he sees as a big waste of time.
As the story progresses we learn that not all that we are being told is true and that just maybe learning healing magic will be the path to success. This was amazing start for this series and very excited about book 2 The Last Dragon. So pick up this new series i am sure you will enjoy it.
