Arc Review Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.

Jan Review

I received a print copy as part of a tour i am doing for Around the World Arc Tours.  I really love the cover on this book it really does give you a small glimpse into the story that is about to unravel in this book.   As i started out reading this book i was a bit confused about what was playing out but as i read i figured it out.

Ya got three sisters and one is destined to rule the other two to die at her hand or if you believe some of the other tales by the hands of the people leaving her blameless and well loved.  The author does a great job of relaying what is going on between the three sisters who have not seen each other since they were six and each one has been trained up to use the power that they are believed to have.  I cringed a lot about the poisoner part of the story and really felt bad for that queen.

The ending was the most exciting part of the book cause you really thought the winner was going to be declared and the rest of the series however many books their will be is about the new queen ruling but no the author does a fantastic job of wanting you to read the next book cause what we been lead to believe throughout the whole book is not what maybe true.  A plot twist cliff hanger you have been warned but stick it out it well worth the ride.
